Frequently asked questions
Is The PuckVerse free?
Yes. Creating a pool, inviting friends and running a live draft are all free. The site is supported by ads.
What is the difference between a live and an offline draft?
A live draft has a scheduled date and time, and everyone drafts together online with a pick timer. An offline draft has no scheduled time, which works well if your group drafts in person and just wants a place to keep rosters and standings.
How is the draft order decided?
The pool admin can set the order manually, randomize it right away, or have it randomized automatically one hour before the draft starts so nobody can complain about it being rigged.
What happens if I miss my pick?
If the pick timer runs out, the autodraft bot picks for you. It follows your personal rankings first and your draft plans (for example "forward in round 1"), and it has built-in limits so your roster stays balanced even if you never set anything up.
How does scoring work?
The pool admin chooses how many points each stat is worth. Skaters can score on goals, assists, game-winning goals and hat tricks. Goalies can score on wins, regulation losses, overtime/shootout losses, and shutouts. Ties in the standings are broken with tiebreakers the admin picks, like points per game or total goals.
Can I change the pool settings after creating it?
Yes. Scoring, roster rules, the draft date and more can be edited by the pool admin up until the draft is complete.
How often are stats updated?
Stats are updated as quickly as possible. The PuckVerse is run by one person with a day job, so allow some leniency here!
